Okinawian vegetation
Peculiar natural conditions contributed to the development of exotic Okinawan flora.
Palms, bananas, and other vegetables
In addition to the usual tropical plants (pineapples, bananas, pitaya, mangoes, passion fruit, citrus, papaya, etc.), Okinawa's flora includes many interesting plants that I will talk about. High temperatures throughout the year and almost 100 percent humidity, which are typical for a subtropical climate, have contributed to the rapid growth of plants. Banana plantations are grown here, and dozens of palm species (including bottle palm, coconut palm, betel palm, etc.) grow along the streets. Epiphytic palms are also common in Okinawa, i.e. small palms that grow on other trees but are not parasites.

Flowers of Okinawa
The symbolic flower of Okinawa is the hibiscus, which grows here as a common wildflower. The most common color of hibiscus petals is red, although orange, pink, yellow, and even white ones are also found. The diameter of the flower reaches the size of an adult's head.
Also quite common are the tree-like Schefflera arboricola, small-fruited ficuses, as well as the flowers of the red ixora and the vaulted lanthanum.
As for the higher plants, the Okinawan mangroves are popular, attracting many tourists.
